Description
A technological descendant
of the Sivar dreadnought from the earlier days of
the Kilrathi war, the Behemoth uses superconductors
to focus energy to a single point, destroying anything
and everything at the end of that point. ()

Description
The Hades is the resurrection
of the Kilrathi War era "jeep" carriers,
notably the Tarawa class, that brought speed, fighters
and a decent armament into the mix. The Hades represents
the latest jack-of-all trades capital ship. Decent
squadron capacity, decent anti-fighter/anti-ship
armament, and great speed for a ship of it's size.
The internal structure is rather complex, unlike
the relatively simple Midway class, and the external
hull is definitely unconventional. Turrets seem
to poke out of the hull in the strangest places,
and at the wierdest angles. Armament placement was
a big criticism when the ship was first reviewed,
since none of the weapons seem to have the field
of fire that the Midway class' weapons had, due
mostly to the odd shape of the hull. In practice,
I have found the turrets, though numerous, to not
be quite as effective because of the hull design.
There are several "holes" in the defense
that you should be aware of when flying CAP for
a Hades class vessel. Keep enemies away from the
lower rear quarter of the ship. Due to her design
as a strike cruiser, most of the weapons have been
designed to sacrifice rear protection for forward
hitting power. Try to herd the enemies towards the
forward dorsal area, where nearly fifty percent
of the turrets have fields of fire. As a strike
cruiser the Hades has yet to prove that her unconventional
design and mission requirements will prove successful,
but she definitely has potential. ()

Description
The old Sheffields have been
running around for what seems like ages, and Confed's
BuShips finally figured it was time to put out a
good escort destroyer. Somewhat of a throwback in
terms of appearance, the Murphy's look passingly
similar to the old Gilgamesh class destroyers. However,
the armament is far different in composition. Whereas
the Gilgamesh was designed as a capital ship killer,
the Murphy takes a picket/escort emphasis that decades
of increased carrier/fighter involvement have pushed
development. The complete antithesis of the gun-heavy
Plunkett class cruiser, the Murphy's were designed
to screen enemy fighters and bombers before they
got too close to the more "valuable" ships
in the fleet. In this role they serve quite nicely,
and the quick firing turrets are tailored to the
task at hand. All in all, a solid class of purpose-built
ship. ()

Description
The Plunkett class is probably
the most impressive gun cruiser class that I've
ever seen in action. The huge triple turreted weapons
on the forward weapons section let you know that
this baby is ready for some serious fleet action.
The secondary turrets and the small anti-fighter
mounts that dot the whole craft are enough to repel
light assaults. The Plunkett class fills in the
role of the gun-heavy escort vessel, that adds that
extra oomph to a task force. Though the amount of
fighters she carries is negligible, she more than
makes up for it with her cap ship engaging ability.
Not quite as pretty as the old Ajax class, the Plunketts
are nevertheless just as deadly, and fearsome. One
look at those bristling energy weapons barrels have
made me think twice about a direct assault on one
in the sims, and will probably make the bugs think
twice (or three times) as well. ()

Description
The Ranger class represents
the epitomy of generic assembly line carrier building.
Though not as large as standard fleet carriers,
the Victory and her sister ships are the most numerous
of all the carrier classes. A multi-purpose design,
the Victory was a cheap, expendable stand-in to
the more expensive (and far less numerous) Confederation
class during the hottest years of the war. Now entering
the end of the road careerwise, the Victorys soldier
on as some of the oldest ships in the fleet. Having
undergone numerous upgrades, repairs, and improvements,
the class is battleworthy, though not extremely
so. The shields ain't the greatest, the weapons
are a little on the thin side, and she doesn't carry
as many fighters as the heavier babies, but she
can still sting the Kats some. Most of the Victorys
(as of the late 2660s) were serving as fleet carrier
stopgaps until a more formidable design could be
introduced. The older, junkier ones were being used
as support ships, or glorified fighter ferries.
This old design had its day, but I'd rather not
be hanging around its thin armor for too long, if
you catch my drift. ()

Description
The mainstay cruiser in the
Terran Confederation Navy, the Talahasse class is
a pound for pound match for the Kilrathi cruiser,
and carries the most striking power in a capital
ship aside from the mighty fleet carriers. Bristling
with turrets, an Talahasse class cruiser bolsters
the offensive punch of any battle-group. ()

Description
The most impressive warship
ever constructed next to the Confederation Behemoth,
the Vesuvius carries more firepower in the form
of fighters and turrets than some entire battlegroups
from previous eras. Extremely large and carrying
a huge fighter wing, the Vesuvius is a the proto-typical
strike carrier, self-sufficient, self-sustaining,
and able to wreak havoc on enemy forces. Something
of a combination of Kilrathi carriers at the end
of the war and the late Concordia class, the sleek
Vesuvius and her sisters just look deadly and lethal.
They also have the guns to back up their looks.
Even with their guns alone, they can simultaneously
engage several cruisers worth of firepower, and
come out alive. The fighters that it carries can
provide a lethal strike to any planet, or provide
a protective umbrella several hundred kilometers
wide around the Vesuvius. Attempting to stay within
this umbrella for extended periods of time is suicide
for enemy pilots. Though never really tested in
battle, I can bet you money that it can take anything
that anyone can dish out in any future conflict...
I'm just glad it's on our side. ()
